News From the Offseason, Ready to Race and Radio

6/6/08: Frank Jr.

Well its been far too long since I last wrote you faithful blog readers, and I just happen to have a few minutes to spare.  Things at Pmotorsports have been incredibly busy over the last few months.  The entire team has been in the shop working long hours to get more horsepower and increased reliability from our racecars.  We have also begun a new program with support from Innovate Motorsports.  We have installed data recorders and 02 sensors in both racecars.  These new capabilities will allow us to better understand the effects of changing track conditions and also diagnose some problems before they happen.

The team has dropped a new bullet in the 40 willys coupe, we have made several updates to this engine and while we haven’t put this engine on a dyno, early shake down passes show it is making incredible power.  With 4 runs under its belt, that new engine has propelled the willys to a best E.T. of 8.55 at 154 MPH, that’s almost 0.2s quicker than our previous best and the engine has plenty of power left in it.

The team has also been updating the whoopee car in the offseason.  The Anglia has had a new camshaft and some updated valve train components.  We hope these will give us a couple tenths and help the car leave the starting line a little harder so that our competition will be playing a little more catch up than they are used to.  With the help of our new sponsor AFCO we have improved the cooling systems in both cars for those long days at the track that lead to the winners circle.

Our next event is the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY.  We hope to see some of you there.  IF you happen to find yourself at the event make sure to stop by and say hi.  We love seeing all of our great fans and hope to meet all of you one day.  Thanks for all of the great support you have provided us over the years, and keep the emails coming.

One last thing, Frank Sr. and Frank Jr. will be on In the Pits Radio broadcast on 106.7 WJFK radio in Washington, DC, Saturday June 28th.  We will be part of a multi-week feature about how racing effects family life and relationships.  We will be representing all of the father and son race teams.  If you don’t live in the DC area you can check out there website for a live streaming version of the broadcast at www.wjfk.com you can also check out the shows website www.inthepitsracing.com

Thats it for now.
